Description Oxyntomodulin is a peptide hormone produced by the cells of small intestine during food consumption and responsible for the sense of satiation owing to its effect on the hypothalamic nuclei. The physiological role of oxyntomodulin is to decrease appetite for homeostatic weight regulation. Being an innate human protein oxyntomodulin produces minimum side effects in contrast to known drugs for obesity.
